Description: The Clark Burrus Scholarship, established in 1993 by GFOA's Executive Board as the Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship, was renamed in 2024 to honor its legacy. This scholarship supports and recognizes outstanding minority students pursuing studies that prepare them for careers in state or local government finance.
Qualifications:
Citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada
Plan to pursue a career in state/provincial or local government finance
Student has not been a past winner of a GFOA scholarship.
Additional criteria for each individual scholarship
Enrollment Status: Full- or part-time; graduate or upper level undergraduate
Course of Study: Public administration, (governmental) accounting, finance, political science, economics, or business administration (with specific focus on government or nonprofit management)
Letter of Recommendation: Someone who can speak to your commitment to the public sector
Employment Requirement: None
Award Amount: $10,000
