Black is Gold Alumna, Class of 2021
Black is Gold has given me several one-of-a-kind opportunities. One experience that stands out most of all is the college readiness program, and I think it made a significant impact on my college choice and acceptance. The program helped me gain confidence as I went throughout high school. I learned to network, learn and grow throughout my three years in the program. I am forever grateful to Black is Gold for all it has given me.

The Black is Gold Organization has helped me grow as a professional and individual. They assisted in the progression of finding where I wanted to be in the next few years and provided me with the materials and connections to pursue my goals and dreams further. Being a part of the BIG Family has provided me the support system I needed as a first-generation college student and a sense of sisterhood that is often rare in Chicago.

I enjoyed my experience being a part of Black Is Gold. Through Black Is Gold, I learned a lot about myself and grew as a student and a young black woman navigating the world of professionalism. Black Is Gold has given me many tools I still use and will continue to operate in adulthood. When I was a part of this fantastic organization, I built many great relationships and connections. Without Black is Gold, I wouldn’t be the person I am today!
