Being a part of Black is Gold has always been a significant opportunity. The part I love the most about my role as a mentor is not only being a resource to the girls but obtaining bonds with them. Each year I see Black is Gold evolving into something more remarkable, and I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of such an outstanding organization.

Behaving with more positive intention is one of the benefits of serving as a mentor for Black Is Gold Chicago. Allowing younger women to learn from my mistakes made at their age has been cathartic because I know many lessons were intertwined within my mistakes, and that makes it all worthwhile. Finally, being able to shine a light to illuminate for just one young Black girl how to achieve a goal is overwhelmingly satisfying!
